Student Scholarship 2025
Intent:

Garmisch Community Club (GCC) seeks to recognize college-aged dependent children of sponsors from the Garmisch community currently attending college, who have made a positive contribution to their communities by virtue of their commitment to the ideals of academic achievement, personal excellence, leadership, community involvement, and public service.

GCC will award selected students a scholarship to be applied toward the costs involved in seeking a degree at a regionally accredited college, university, or technical school for the year 2025-2026.
Eligibility:

Applicant must have a U.S. Military I.D. card, a USAREUR privilege card issued to U.S. citizens and bona fide family members of U.S. personnel, or NATO I.D. card; and be a military family/dependent child of a sponsor who resides in or is assigned to a unit within the Garmisch Community.

Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED.

Applicant must be currently enrolled in a regionally accredited college, university, or technical school with at least one semester’s work completed and a minimum GPA of 3.0. NOTE: Students who graduated in 2024 and have deferred admissions and not completed one semester's work may use their high school GPA.

High school seniors are required to apply for the Senior Scholarship. Dependent spouses who are continuing education students may apply for the GCC Continuing Education/ Professional Development Adult Scholarship provided that they meet the eligibility requirements.

The GCC Board of Governors will resolve disputes concerning eligibility.
Selection:
GCC will grant scholarships to the highest ranked applicants based on academic performance, volunteer, community, extra-curricular activities, employment, special awards, essay, and recommendations. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, or national origin.

The entire packet must be received by 5:00 pm, May 15, 2025. NO LATE ENTRIES OR ADDITIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Disbursement:

The GCC Scholarship Committee will notify each applicant of selection results in writing no later than May 30, 2025.

Students must use the scholarship for basic educational expenses such as tuition, laboratory fees, dormitory fees, boarding expenses, books, equipment necessary for classes, and/or any miscellaneous fees required by the institution. Students must complete an Acceptance Form no later than June 15, 2025 or the award will be considered unclaimed.

Any student who accepts an all-inclusive scholarship will forfeit the GCC scholarship.

GCC Scholarships, when combined with other scholarships, must not exceed the cost of tuition, fees, and books for the academic year. Any remaining funds must be returned to the GCC.

If the student receives funds from the Post-911 G.I Bill, they must provide proof of continued financial need. If the student cannot provide proof of continued financial need, they must forfeit the GCC Scholarship.
